AMAZING, INDEED!

 AMAZING, INDEED!

We can admit it – “fun” is not the first thing that comes to mind when you think of hospice. That’s part of what made Saturday, August 13, so special. The Hospice Amazing Hunt, our summer fundraiser, was a rousing success: Clues were found, riddles solved, rivalries launched, and fun had all around! And, we raised over $13,000!

Teams raced down to the bridge to do yoga poses, debated whether that was a fence or really a railing, strategized over which clues to do first or leave to the end. As we waited for scores to be tallied and prizes announced, teams had a chance to chat and enjoy some good food at the River Garden Marketplace.

The Hunt was also a welcome reminder of what a great town we live in. It’s no exaggeration to say Brattleboro Area Hospice wouldn’t have lasted 43 years and counting without the support of our downtown community. Whether as sponsors of events like the Hunt, venues for auctions and films, hosts of death cafes and readings by noted authors, Brattleboro businesses come through for us.

We had an amazing time – I would say that “It’s a wonderful way to experience Brattleboro- while supporting a wonderful organization that gives support to its community members. Brattleboro holds history old and new – it was exciting find things ( and not find things! ) that we walk by everyday without realizing how they make Brattleboro – Brattleboro! It was a great way to connect with people who you know and those you don’t! Can’t wait for next year !!” – Frances Tillerg

There is something so fun about a scavenger hunt, it’s a great way to discover our town of Brattleboro through clues.  We saw buildings, landmarks, people, local businesses in a new way, talked and met new people as well.  There is so much to discover in our town.  I loved it and would happily do it again. – Libby Lafland

“The Hunt was a fun way to spend a Saturday.  We enjoyed running around downtown while supporting a great cause!”  Bonnie McKellar

“We had a lot of silly, great fun!  We had to be creative while exploring the history of Brattleboro and the people in it.  We learned the difference between a key stone and a cornerstone.  It was a blast, looking forward to next year!”  Martha & Scott

“We had so much fun exploring our town and discovering little known facts about Brattleboro!  We had to put our thinking caps on a few times and when we did, we delighted ourselves with our creativity and resourcefulness.  Looking forward to next year.”  Janice & Jerry

Thank you to the Hunt Committee – Ellen Smith, Amelia Farnum, Pam Crispe, Kate McGinn and Lisa Bloch – for all their work and creativity in launching this event; the River Garden Marketplace for hosting us; our sponsors; and our teams. See you next year!
