19 Jul Become a hospice volunteer!
Our volunteers are an incredible group of people who provide comfort and practical help to their neighbors at end of life.
Each Spring and Fall, Brattleboro Area Hospice offers an in-person training for hospice volunteers.
Hospice volunteers support neighbors and their families who are living with life-threatening illnesses throughout Windham County. Help may range from errands and gardening to emotional and physical support. Training topics include Hospice philosophy, nuts and bolts of volunteering, ethical issues, personal attitudes toward death and dying, and grief issues, among others. Presenters include professionals from the community as well as Hospice staff and volunteers.
If you are drawn to take the training, we ask that before you submit an application, you consider whether or not you are ready to commit 2-4 hours a week to being a hospice volunteer. When volunteers complete the training, they sign a job description that states they are agreeing to a 2-4 hour/week commitment.
If you would like to apply for a space in an upcoming training, you can complete and submit the Hospice Volunteer Training Application online by clicking here: Hospice Volunteer Training Application.
