A gift of Life Insurance

Oftentimes an older person no longer has the same need for life insurance as they may have when they purchased the policy. Naming Brattleboro Area Hospice as beneficiary of an unneeded policy can be a simple method for leaving a legacy.

An insurance policy, which has value but is no longer needed, is an easy way for a donor to make a significant gift to Brattleboro Area Hospice. This type of gift has no impact on a donor’s current financial status. If you name Brattleboro Area Hospice as the beneficiary rather than your estate, there will be no estate taxes due on this asset upon your death. This gift does not require any legal work, just the changing of beneficiary. Brattleboro Area Hospice recommends that you review this as well as any other planned giving option with your financial or legal advisor in terms of your overall estate plan.

What to do next: Please call the Development Director at 802-257-0775 ext. 109 before sending your policy.

We would be happy to meet with you to further discuss your hopes for leaving a legacy.  Please call the office at 802-257-0775 to schedule an appointment with the Development Director.

Thank you!
