Serious Illness Program

Hello, Everyone!

We are excited to announce the official start of the Serious Illness Program.  Please share this information with any of your family, friends or neighbors who may need these services.

Support for Those Going Through Life-Altering Illnesses

Have you or someone you love been diagnosed with a serious illness, or are coping with an exacerbation of an ongoing serious illness?

We created the Serious Illness Program to bring support, solace, and assistance to people going through a life-altering serious illness, one that may or may not have a terminal prognosis.

For people standing on the threshold of a new diagnosis or going through treatment for a recurrence or exacerbation of an ongoing illness such as organ disease or cancer, the Serious Illness Program can offer one-on-one volunteer services, support groups with others going through the process of a serious illness, and a chance to learn more about what resources are available in the community.

The Serious Illness Program supports people in Windham County and bordering NH towns. All services are free of charge and fully confidential.

To learn more about the Serious Illness Program call Eileen Glover, Program Coordinator, at 802-257-0775 x106 or email at eileen.glover@brattleborohospice.org.

Serious Illness Program Volunteers

Our volunteers are well trained, supervised, and able to lend assistance during a difficult time in a person’s life. Ongoing support, education, and training enables them to provide care and support when it means the most.

Our trained volunteers are able to offer:

  • Emotional support and a listening ear

  • Companionship

  • Help around the house

  • Transportation for appointments

  • Support for appointments and treatments

  • And more…

Serious Illness Program Support Groups

We also have ongoing peer support groups where folks can get together and openly share their experiences with others who truly understand. The Serious Illness Program offers in-person and online support groups. People who have attended support groups have said that the group is the one place that they feel truly at ease and free to talk about any aspect of their illness experience.

The Serious Illness Program support groups are a place where participants can find a safe space to share personal experiences, feelings, coping strategies, and also allow for shared learning.
