26 Oct BAH Covid Protocols as of 9/23/2023
Brattleboro Area Hospice Covid Protocols as of September 26, 2023
The health and safety of our clients, volunteers and staff are very important to us. These protocols were developed with some CDC guidance and their recommendations for healthcare professionals, which we, BAH volunteers and staff, are considered to be.
As always, if you are not feeling well, please do not visit your client or attend BAH gatherings including in-services, training, support groups, Death Cafes, Kitchen Table Conversations, etc., and please do not come to our office.
If you need masks, antigen tests or some other type of support please call us at 802-257-0775.
♦If you have been infected with Covid-19…
People who are infected but asymptomatic or people with mild COVID-19 should isolate through at least day 5 (day 0 is the day symptoms appeared or the date the specimen was collected for the positive test for people who are asymptomatic). They should wear a mask through day 10.
People with moderate or severe COVID-19 should isolate through at least day 10. Those with severe COVID-19 may remain infectious beyond 10 days and may need to extend isolation for up to 20 days.
When you are feeling better and on/after day 5 if you were symptomatic or asymptomatic
Please do not resume visits to your clients or attend our group gatherings until you have two sequential negative antigen tests at least 48 hours apart. If your antigen test results are positive, you may still be infectious. You should wait at least 48 hours before taking another test. Continue taking antigen tests at least 48 hours apart until you have two sequential negative results.
When you have had two negative sequential antigen tests at least 48 hours apart, you may resume visits to your clients and attend group gatherings. Please mask until at least day 10. (Day 0 is the day symptoms appeared/positive test.)
After you have ended isolation, if your Covid-19 symptoms recur or worsen, restart your isolation at day 0.
♦If you have been exposed to covid 19…
Wear a mask as soon as you find out you were exposed. Day 0 is the day of exposure. Please test starting on day 5.
When you have had two negative sequential antigen tests at least 48 hours apart, you may resume visits to your clients and attend group gatherings. Please mask until at least day 10. (Day 0 is the day symptoms appeared/positive test.)
You can still develop Covid-19 up to 10 days after you have been exposed. Exposure occurs when you are within 6 feet of someone who is showing symptoms of Covid-19, for at least 15 cumulative minutes in a 24-hour period, or an infected person who shows no symptoms but later tests positive.
Please call the BAH office at 802-257-0775 if you have any questions. Thank you!!
