Responsibilities
A 16-hour per week position providing bereavement volunteer and client support. Reports to the Bereavement Program Coordinator.
Functions
- Coordinates bereavement support groups, including launching, promoting, and supervising volunteer facilitators and directly facilitating groups.
- Assists with monthly volunteer support gatherings.
- Assists with coordination of public events (i.e., Memorial Garden Service, Lantern Walk).
- Program coverage when the Bereavement Program Coordinator is out, including doing intakes.
- Assists with planning and facilitating volunteer in-services.
- Assists Bereavement Program Coordinator when working with schools, organizations, and businesses seeking grief support.
- Maintains electronic and paper forms and filing according to organizational policy.
Qualifications
- Experience in the area of grief and loss and group activities
- Supportive and compassionate listening skills
- Knowledge and acceptance of Hospice philosophy and practice
- Initiative, creativity, and willingness to be part of a team in the delivery of services
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, presentation, written, and telephone skills
- Education: B.A. in human services and relevant experience preferred
